A number of road closures will be in place to secure the perimeter (manned
by security and JMPD officials).

•  Residents will need to collect resident passes from a caravan situated outside the Parkview Police Station from Saturday, August 28th to Saturday,
  September 4th.
• Residents will need to produce a utility bill when collecting passes
• Road closures will be advertised in the local community newspapers as well as on Jozi FM and East Wave Radio
• Street pole ads regarding road closures will be erected timeously
• Park n Ride facilities will operate from UJ and Wits Campuses
• Churches, the bowling club and surrounding businesses will be affected to a degree

Proposed Road Closures – Outer Barriers

SAPRA is made up of a group of local residents who represent the interests of the residents in Saxonwold and Parkwood.   Our primary function is to assist and deal with local problems experienced, which generally is the adherence and enforcement of by-laws - examples include ensuring that building regulations (by-laws and heritage) are adhered to, or that advertisers comply with council requirements when they advertise.   However, this is not where our role ends and SAPRA has a long tradition of adopting a pro-active approach and will tackle challenges of all sizes – from street cleaning right up to participating and influencing the layout of the proposed Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) in our suburbs.  SAPRA is effective because of the dedicated efforts of the committee members, the network it has built over the years which allows it to address issues with the relevant party and access to the local councillor who sits on the committee.
